Index

Ewon is a product brand of HMS Networks, one of the leading independent manufacturers of products for industrial communication, including remote maintenance. The Industrial Cloud Platform is compatible with all eWon Flexy 20x devices. To integrate the devices with the platform, we make use of the Talk2M platform offered by HMS.

eWon types

Depending on the model at hand, different connection possibilities are available.

Flexy 201 – Ethernet

The ethernet model has 4 Ethernet ports available which will act as a switch. All 4 Ethernet ports can be used to connect to the internal devices or can be used to connect your PC to the eWon device, so you can update the device’s configuration.

Flexy 202 – Serial

The ethernet port can be used to connect your PC to the eWon device, so you can update the device’s configuration. The serial port can be used to connect your internal devices via RS232/RS485/RS422.

Flexy 203 – MPI

The ethernet port can be used to connect your PC to the eWon device, so you can update the device’s configuration. The MPI port can be used to connect your internal device.

Flexy 205 – Ethernet

The Flexy 205 model has 4 Ethernet ports available which will act as a switch. All 4 Ethernet ports can be used to connect to the internal devices or can be used to connect your PC to the eWon device, so you can update the device’s configuration. One of the Ethernet ports can be assigned as Ethernet WAN port.

Extension cards

Dual serial port module

The dual serial port extension card offers the ability to interconnect and retrieve data from serial devices. As a transparent gateway, the eWON Flexy is the link between any serial devices or PLCs and the Ethernet LAN. As a data acquisition gateway, the eWON polls the serial devices at defined intervals to feed its internal memory tags with live data.

802.11 B,G,N WIFI/WLAN client module

More and more WLAN (WiFi) access points are available in the industry. WLAN access points allow internet connectivity while avoiding connection on the factory/corporate LAN network. The eWON Flexy WiFi extension card provides a powerful backup Internet access for industrial M2M applications. WLAN technology offers free access, high bandwitdh, easy deployment (no cabling) and facilitates security network management.

4G module

Many field-based applications do not have access to a wired connection to the Internet. This is where 4G cellular technology can solve major connectivity problems. The cellular 4G extension card exists in 4 different versions: Europe, Verizon, North America and APAC.

3 USB port module

The eWON Flexy USB card provides an additional way to connect to industrial devices. Many small automation devices have seen their programming port which in the past worked through serial connectivity be replaced by USB connectivity. The 3 port USB card is a 2.0 version at full speed and can pilot up to 10 USB connections.

I/O module with 8 x DI, 2 x DO, 4 x AI (0-10V, 4-20mA)

The eWON Flexy I/O card provides you with a full range of 8 digital inputs, 4 analog inputs configurable in voltage or current and 2 digital outputs for a wide variety of applications where data needs to be transferred from one remote location to a central server application.

Ethernet WAN module

WAN Ethernet access to connect your industrial assets to the Internet. The LAN network represents the most economical way to connect your remote site or device to the Internet. Thanks to our cloud-based remote connectivity solution Talk2M, you can establish a secure remote access without any change on the factory network settings.
